Founded in 1994 by Eamonn Doyle, D1 Recordings was Dublin's most important techno institution. D1 clubnights ran weekly for over a decade, and the influential techno label operated from the legendary 147 building which became a hub for Irish electronic music.
Notable artists associated with D1 include Donnacha Costello, Rob Rowland, and Lerosa. The collective was known for its policy of not announcing guest DJs until doors opened, a bold statement of confidence in their brand and community.
